Dear veterans, our compatriots!

I congratulate you on the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War! 

Abkhazia sent 55 thousand of its citizens to the defence of the country, of whom 17 thousand did not return home. Twenty-two natives of the republic were awarded the high title of ‘Hero of the Soviet Union’, three were awarded the Order of Glory of three degrees. 

On this holiday, we are all overwhelmed with pride for our soldiers who liberated the world from fascism. 

We sacredly honour the feats of those who survived the heroic struggle for freedom and will keep the memory of them.
