Vladislav Grigoryevich Ardzinba was born on May 14, 1945 in the village of Nizhnyaya Eshera, Sukhum region. His childhood and school years were spent in his native village. In 1966, he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Sukhum State Pedagogical Institute and entered the graduate school of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

Vladislav Ardzinba entered big politics in one of the most difficult periods in the history of Abkhazia. The struggle for the rights of the people of Abkhazia became the work of his whole life. Vladislav Ardzinba made a great contribution to the creation of a legislative framework for the equal development of the peoples of the USSR, under his leadership a number of Laws were developed and adopted, as well as amendments to the Constitution of the USSR, which consolidated the sovereign state status of the former autonomous republics.

With the beginning of Georgia's armed aggression against Abkhazia in August 1992, Vladislav.Ardzinba became Chairman of the State Defense Committee and led the national liberation struggle of the people of Abkhazia. Under his leadership, on September 30, 1993, the people of Abkhazia won the Victory in this cruel war.
